Lana Del Rey Parody by Kristen Wiig

This week on Saturday Night Live the always funny Kristen Wiig - pretty much the only reason why I still watch this show - made a funny impersonation of new songbird Lana Del Rey.

Not only it was really funny but also a great way to tackle all the criticism Lana (the real one) received after her perfomance a couple of weeks ago on SNL.

I personally don't think she is all that great live (from what I've seen) but am really enjoying the album so far so I say "Go Lana!". And for all of you who can't find it on Youtube or live outside the US here is the funny video:

Betty White turns 90!

Eternal Golden Girl Betty White celebrated her 90th birthday last month and NBC celebrated it with a star-studded bash and her very own TV special Monday on NBC.

Several celebrities came out for the milestone birthday TV tribute, including Mary Tyler Moore, Amy Poehler, Tina Fey, Carol Burnett, Ellen DeGeneres, Joel McHale, Hugh Jackman and Ray Romano. "Betty, you're going to hear a lot of jokes tonight about your age. But take comfort in the fact that come tomorrow, you won't remember any of them," Amy Poehler joked.

President Barack Obama provided a pre-taped greeting for White's birthday, which is actually on Jan. 17. "I can't believe you're 90 years old," he said. "Will you please produce a copy of your long-form birth certificate?"

Here are some of the funniest bits of the show:

A special Weekend Update with Seth Meyers entirely dedicated to Betty White

A funny brief skit of President Obama writing a Happy Birthday card to Betty White

And Tina Fey, talking about the wise advice she received from Betty White....

And since I'm writing about Betty White:

Madonna's new video / song

Just watched Madonna's new song and video for Give Me All Your Luvin' ft. Nicki Minaj & M.I.A. So far not really feeling this song and although she looks kinda good, she looks airbrushed beyond recognition - I think Pixar might have helped a little on this video.

Remember this before / after photoshop Madonna photo? :)

3 more from Professor Layton

It's been a while since I did some Professor Layton puzzles here, so why not post a few more? Below are the puzzles and the answers, but to make it a bit more fun, I've "hidden" the answers :) Don't worry, they are there, you just need to highlight the text if you want to know the answer. Good luck!

Puzzle 1: Two men are moving boxes from the first floor to the third. The larger man can carry two boxes at a time, and it takes him one minute to get to the third floor. The smaller man cancarry only one box at a time, but it takes himm just 30 seconds to make it to the third floor. For both men, the return trip to the first floor is the same as the trip up. If there were seven boxes total, how many minutes would it take the men to get all the boxes to the third floor?

Solution (highlight to see text): The question didn't mention the men returning to the first floor. All it mentioned is the amount of minutes it would take for them carry all of the boxes. For the larger man, it would take two minutes for a round with two boxes, but for the same amount of time, the smaller man would have two boxes on the third floor. So for two minutes, there will be four boxes. With the three boxes left, both men can carry them, adding a minute. Therefore, the answer is "3".

Puzzle 2:  Even though we're constantly passing through time, sometimes it can be difficult to think about the way time flows. If yesterday's day after tomorrow is Sunday, what day is tomorrow's day before yesterday?

Solution (highlight to see text): The answer is Friday. If yesterday's day after tomorrow is on a Sunday, then that means today would have been Saturday. Therefore,Sunday's day before yesterday would have been Friday.

Puzzle 3:  There are 15 cookies to share amongst a large group. The first person eats one cookie then passes two equal portions of the leftover cookies to two other people. They both eat a cookie then each pass two equal portions of their remaining cookies to two other people, and so on until all of the cookies are gone.

It takes one minute to eat a cookie. Ignoring the time it takes to pass them, what's the shortest amount of time it could take for all of the cookies to be eaten.

Solution (highlight to see text):  It would take 4 minutes to eat all of the cookies.   If you read the question, one person passes two equally portions to two people. They eat one of them, and EACH of them passes to two people. If you imaging a number multiply by 2, then multiply by 2, and so on, you get what I mean.  In minute 1, 1 person eats a cookie. In minute 2, 2 people eats one. In minute 3, it's 4 eats one. And in minute 4, 8 people eats one. If you add them all, you will have 15 people eating one cookie

How to install Ice Cream Sandwich on the Nexus S

If like me you have a Nexus S phone on Android Gingerbread and are getting more and more impatient to when you will finally get the update notification from Google, some bad news first: Google halted the process in January as there were reports from users about battery life and few other minor issues. More than a month has gone by, and so far no updates...

Now the good news - I just installed the official ICS 4.0.3 on my Nexus S and it works and looks great! Like many of you I don't really like all this talk about rooting your phone, flashing it and other things - my fear of bricking my phone from making a mistake is just too big. However this method of installing ICS on the Nexus S could not be simpler and in 10 to 15 minutes you'll have your phone up and running!

This was the method I followed from ZDNET (which you can see in full following this link):
  1. Download the Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich update from this link.
  2. Connect your Nexus S to your computer via USB and copy update.zip to the root of your SD card (Do not drop it into a folder or this won’t work!).
  3. Power down your Nexus S and power it back on while holding down the volume up button.
  4. Use the volume buttons to navigate to RECOVERY mode and press the power button.
  5. When you see the exclamation mark on the screen, DON’T PANIC! Press the power button followed by volume up.
  6. Select the option to Update from SD card select the update zip package you downloaded earlier and press the power button to confirm.
  7. The update will now install automatically. When it’s down your Nexus S will boot up into  Android 4.0.3 … enjoy!!
If you are a bit more challenged in technical things and still are not sure about this, why not watch this video first?

New Wolverine trailer (another one)

Since I've been following the new Wolverine movie with quite some interest and posting new stuff here, I think I should post the newly released (well newer than the old new one) trailer:

Still really excited about this one. I think this a lot better than before because it finally looks polished and the effects look really good. Secondly, both Gambit and Deadpool look badass and I can't wait to see them in action. Even though I've always liked Wolverine as a character, I still he gets too much protagonism, and frankly that's a bit unfait to other great(er) X-Men characters. He's awesome as part of a team, but alone? It slightly bores me... I have a feeling Gambit and Deadpool will be twice as cool as Wolverine and will get half the action in this movie - even the X-Men movies, as great as they were, were a bit Wolverine & Friends. Anyway, still one of my most anticipated films this year - May can't come soon enough!

And it appears Gambit will have red (well red-ish) eyes!

P.S. Is the "young mutant" they're looking for Cyclops?? Didn't see that one coming! Here's hoping for more surprising X-cameos!
